    Significance of Satyanarayan Fasting

Hinduism follows the Satyanarayan vrat or fasting all year round to achieve success in education, wealth, business, procreation, and other life goals. A considerable amount of devotees from distant and relatively close increased to tens of thousands after it was learned that Lord Satyanarayana Swamy had shown himself at Annavaram on the Ratnagiri hills in a unique form integrating the Trimurthis – Siva, Vishnu, and Brahma.

Although Ekadasi or Purnima is considered highly fortunate for the Satyanarayana vrat or Vratham, some devotees practice it on certain other suitable days.

Some Satyanarayan Puja Fasting Rules To Follow

    • On the day of the Puja, followers must go fasting. It is possible to perform the Puja in the evening and the morning.
    • Since devotees may complete their fasting with Prasadam in the evening, celebrating Satyanarayan Puja is far more suitable.
    • The evening Shree Satyanarayan Puja dates are advised by SmartPuja. The day of the Satyanarayan Puja advised date may fall on Chaturdashi, the day before Purnima. To ensure that Puja is performed during Purnima tithi, worshippers who want to perform Puja in the morning may contact SmartPuja.
    • Purnima tithi may only sometimes be appropriate on Purnima day for the morning Satyanarayan Puja since tithi may pass in the morning hours.
    • Bananas and other fruits can also be served as prasad (prasadam) and panjiri (a sweet made of sugar and roasted wheat flour). Prasadam is made sacred by the addition of tulsi leaves.
    • The Katha, or Satyanarayan Puja Story, must be heard by both those joining the ritual and those following the fasting. It is yet another necessity of the Satyanarayan Puja.
    • The lord satyanarayan’s Katha discusses the history of the Lord’s Puja, its advantages, and any future problems that may arise if the Puja is neglected.
    • A tiny jaggery plate must be placed before a little Ganesha made of Haldi. When conducting the aarti, ensure the lighting of the lamps and the diyas.
    • Participants and observers of the Satyanarayan puja fasting must eat the prasad and the panchamritam once the aarti is completed. Following the Panchamritam fast-breaking ritual, fasting practitioners may eat prasdam.
    • Water from the Kalasam should be consumed and used to clean the dwelling.
    • Offer the pandit a cloth that is tied with the fruits, rice, and certain other items needed for the Puja.

Origin of The Satyanarayan Puja Fasting

At some point, an extremely qualified Brahmin who lacked any support mechanisms sought nourishment by roving from one place to another. Lord Satyanarayana felt compassion and appeared in front of him to give him advice.

The Brahmin was directed to perform the pooja and go on fasting to Lord Satyanarayana, Lord Vishnu’s incarnation. Furthermore, he explained to him how the pooja should be conducted.

Therefore, the Brahmin could obtain the necessary resources the following day and perform the pooja following the instructions advised by Lord Vishnu. He enjoyed a prosperous life with the family, a charmed life, and gained salvation after his demise due to the Lord’s blessing.

    The Beginning of Satyanarayan Puja

The beginning of the Satyanarayan puja vidhi is a prayer to Lord Ganesha. It would help if you chanted all of Ganesha’s names and presented Prasad for vidhi. Ladoo, modak, or a concoction of coconut and sugar are typically offered to our dear Lord Ganesha.

The nine significant celestial creatures known as the Navagraha are later worshipped in an aarti or prayer after being showered with flower petals. Satyanarayan puja and the remaining other rituals start after completing this.

    Satyanarayan Puja Vidhi

Before Sankalpam (inauguration), the surface was cleansed and decorated with rangoli using four colors. A square of fresh fabric is then laid over the surface. On top of the fabric, rice is distributed as layering, and a Kalash or Kalasam is retained and topped with betel leaves or mango leaves and a fresh cloth piece. After tilak or abhishekam, a tiny statue of the Satyanarayana Swamy deity is placed over the cloth.

Following that, Ashta Dikpalakas, lord Vighneswara Swamy, goddess Lakshmi, goddess Parvati, lord Siva, and the Navagrahas are prayed for and honoured in order. After that, lord Satyanarayana is called upon and revered.

Plantains, cow’s ghee, cow’s milk, rava of suji or wheat, and jaggery or sugar are used to produce the prasad or prasadam, which is then presented to the Lord Satyanarayana as prasad and later given to the family and friends who have been invited to participate in this holy fasting ritual.

An Aarti (Puja), which involves rotating a tiny fire lit with Kapur (camphor) near the lord Satyanarayan’s statue or other representation of the Lord, marks the end of the Satyanarayan puja.
