    When To Perform Shashti Poorthi Puja?

    Shashti Poorthi Puja can be performed on the day, year, or month when an individual turns 60. When this isn’t feasible, an auspicious day corresponding to the individual’s natal chart is set throughout the year when they turn sixty. Sashti Poorthi Puja is typically observed at the 60th year’s end and the 61st year’s beginning.

    Rituals And Ceremonies In Shashti Poorthi Puja

    Kalash Pooja And Sthapana

    Archanas are done during Shashti Poorthi Puja, along with Pratima Sthapana and Mrityunjayadevata Kalash Sthapana. Kalash Sthapana process differs from location to location, with the critical difference being the Kalahsa’s numbers. The numbers can be we, 33, or 60, all of which have a total of 6. 

    Following Kalasa Sthapana, the spirits are called upon during Shodasa Upachara Pooja while reciting Vedic mantras. 

    Repetition Of Wedding Rituals During Shashti Poorthi Puja

    The pair repeats their wedding rituals, such as the seven vows, and carries out traditional rites. These rituals include varmala or garlands exchange, tying mangal sutra, drinking holy water, etc.

    For approximately four days, pandits recite the Vedas and the epic Ramayana’s teachings to reaffirm participants about living in the Vedic period.

    • The Gods of every star- Nakshathra Devatas
    • The Gods for the phases of the moon- Thithi Devatas

    Ayush Homam: 108 Aahutees

    108 Ahuthees chant Thrayambaka Mantras throughout the Ayush Homam. This Homam is the first of the Homams done during Shashti Poorthi Puja. It is performed to honour Ayur Devatha, the God who grants long lives to his devotees. The Homam is done in front of a Ganesha yantra. 

    Dhanvantari Mantra: Homam And 5100 Chants Or Jaap

    Dhanvantri Homam and mantra are recited during Shashti Poorthi Puja to invoke the blessings of the God of medicine, Lord Dhanvantari. The Lord appeared to be holding a nectar pot and some therapeutic herbs on the other. This Homam is believed to heal physical and mental ailments. Once conducted, this Homam distributes goodwill and positive vibes.

    Mahamrityunjaya Mantra: Homam And 5100 Chants Or Jaap

    Longevity is achieved by performing the specific Homam and Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra Japa. Since the primordial power that has defeated mortality and time, Maha Mrityunjaya or Lord Shiva, is honoured as Mahakaal.

    Navagraha Mantra: Homam And 5100 Chants Or Jaap-

    A fire ritual of Navgraha Homam and jaap is carried out to appease the nine planets controlling and determining the karma’s results. It is done so that the planets remain supportive of the person’s spiritual endeavours supposed to pursue after sixty.
