Shubh Muhurat for Vat Savitri Puja 2026

The puja is traditionally performed in the morning or during the Pradosh Kaal. The most auspicious time (Shubh Muhurat) to perform the Vat Savitri Puja is during the Pratahkal (Morning) after sunrise.

• Amavasya Puja Muhurat: Morning of June 14 (Sunday).
• Purnima Puja Muhurat: Morning of June 29 (Monday).

Vat Savitri Puja Vidhi (Rituals)

1. Preparation: Wake up early, take a holy bath, and wear new traditional clothes and jewelry (Solah Shringar). Observe a fast (Vrat).
2. Tree Worship: Visit a nearby Banyan tree or place a branch in a pot at home. Offer water, turmeric, kumkum, and flowers to the tree.
3. Tying the Thread: Tie a white or red sacred thread (Kalava/Sut) around the tree trunk while circumambulating (Parikrama) it 7 or 108 times. This symbolizes the bond of protection.
4. Offerings: Offer soaked gram (chana), fruits (especially mangoes and jackfruit), sweets, and pooris.
5. Katha & Aarti: Listen to the Satyavan-Savitri Katha recited by a priest or an elderly woman. Conclude with Aarti.
6. Breaking Fast: After the puja, break the fast by consuming the soaked gram and water. Seek blessings from elders and your husband.
