The Sacred Gayatri Mantra
Om Bhur Bhuvah Swaha
Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi
Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat
“We meditate on the glory of the Creator; Who has created the Universe; Who is worthy of Worship; Who is the embodiment of Knowledge and Light; Who is the remover of all Sin and Ignorance; May He enlighten our Intellect.”
The Legend: How Gayatri Devi Was Born

According to the Puranas, Lord Brahma once needed to perform a sacred Yajna, which required the presence of his wife, Goddess Saraswati. However, Saraswati was late. To complete the ritual on time, Brahma asked Indra to find a suitable bride.
Indra found a milkmaid whom Brahma purified by passing her through a cow (Gaya). She was named Gayatri. Brahma married her, and she completed the Yajna. It was later revealed that Gayatri was none other than an incarnation of Saraswati herself.
