He had a younger brother named <strong>Vajradhwaja<\/strong>, who was cruel and unrighteous. Vajradhwaja was jealous of the King&#8217;s fame and plotted against him. One night, he killed King Mahidhwaja and buried his body under a wild Peepal tree in the forest.<\/p>\n<p>Due to his untimely and violent death, King Mahidhwaja became a <strong>Preta (Ghost)<\/strong> and started living on that Peepal tree. He suffered greatly and caused trouble for passersby.<\/p>\n<p>One day, a learned sage named <strong>Dhaumya Rishi<\/strong> passed by that path. With his divine vision, he saw the ghost and understood the King&#8217;s tragic past. Filled with compassion, the Sage decided to help him.<\/p>\n<p>Sage Dhaumya observed the <strong>Apara Ekadashi Vrat<\/strong> on behalf of the ghost. He offered the entire merit (Punya) of the fast to the spirit of King Mahidhwaja. Instantly, the King was liberated from the ghostly form.
