Griha Pravesh Puja (North)

                                                                               “Om Ganesaya Namah Avahayami”

The first mantra chanted by the pandit as the Griha Pravesh Puja commences as you embark on the divine experience which is the hindu equivalent of a housewarming ceremony. But why do we perform Griha Pravesh Puja ? What rituals are performed as a part of it? And how do you find the Panditji who will ensure a seamless Puja?

When you move in to your new home or an existing home after a long time abroad or after it has undergone renovation: that’s when Griha Pravesh Puja is performed to purify the environment of the home and protect your abode from the evil eye.

There are different variants of this Auspicious Puja namely Griha Pravesh Puja (Simple , Regular , Premium  and Grand) ceremony.

In this blog we share the sacred rituals of the Premium ceremony. The rituals for the Griha Pravesh Puja (Premium) are as follows:

Dwar Puja is performed to show respect to the deities who will protect the entrance of the home. Gau Puja is performed as all gods reside in the holy cow which is followed by the ladies of the house participating in the Kitchen Puja. After this Ganapati Puja assures that your journey to entering your new home has no obstacles.

These are followed by the Punyahavachan, Varun Puja, Matrika Puja and Navagraha Puja. Kshetrapal Puja and Kuldevi Devta Puja are performed to appease the presiding God of the family. Vastu Puja negates the effects of any vastu dosha. Satyanarayan Puja is performed for blessing from Lord Narayan, through Pitru Puja you pay respects to your ancestors which is succeeded by Havans including Ganapati Havan, Navagraha Havan, Divya Vastu Havan and Lakshmi – Kuber Havan.  The Puja ends with Purnahuti, Mahamangal Aarti, and Prasad vitran.

It is extremely important that a learned Pandit who is well versed with the Vedic rituals performs these Pujas. Also due to the elaborate process, this 3 – 3.5 hour Puja requires a decent amount of Samagri , Flowers etc. It’s understandable that in our busy lives, finding the time to decide on this Pandit along with buying all the myriad items will be a tough task. Which is why we at SmartPuja believe in being the one-stop solution for all your Puja requirements.
